Ammar Masood
Major: Physiology and Neurobiology Bio: My name is Ammar, and I am a senior at the University of Maryland studying neurobiology and physiology. Through KDSAP I have been able better to understand the health disparities present in kidney disease and become involved in my local communities’ health. I look forward to continuing the impact of KDSAP and working with everyone to hold our first student-led kidney health screening this upcoming semester! In my free time, I enjoy watching/playing soccer, reading, and spending time with my family. |
Vice President
Joshua Chen
Major: Physiology and Neurobiology Bio: I'm a rising sophomore, studying neurobiology and physiology at UMD! I joined KDSAP because of my interest to learn more about kidney health and how to improve care for underserved communities. Considering chronic kidney disease is something that many lack the accessibility to proper care and information for them, it's important for organizations such as KDSAP to work to improve that. In my free time, I like to stay in the comfort of my home and play video games and watch different shows. |
Treasurer
Mahnaz Habib
Major: Physiology and Neurobiology Minor: Global Poverty Bio: Hi! My name is Mahnaz and I am a senior at UMD with a major in neurobiology and physiology and a minor in global poverty. I am a part of KDSAP because as a premed student striving to work for health equity and global medical nonprofits, I believe that it is vital that we understand the health disparities marginalized populations face and actively work toward a more equitable healthcare system. I also have learned so much on the importance in kidney disease awareness and early screenings, and am grateful to be a part of an organization which advocates and fundraises for this cause. In my free time, I love to bake, dance, and watch Netflix! |

I've been in KDSAP for a year now and it is the first organization that has allowed me to fulfill my interests in serving the underserved. In the future, I hope to become a physician and research solutions to various disparities in health care. During my free time, I love to bake desserts, take film photos, and go on adventures with friends! :) |

In the future I hope to attend medical school and pursue a career in clinical medicine. In my free time I enjoy playing tennis, spending time with my friends and family, and trying new food places. |

Minor: Business Analytics
Bio: Hello everyone! My name is Rhea, and I am a senior majoring in Physiology and Neurobiology and minoring in Business Analytics. Empowering individuals to take control of their health is extremely important, and the COVID-19 pandemic has shown just how important that is. Without access to proper medical facilities and other resources, those in underserved communities are disproportionately affected. As Co-Director of Community Outreach, I am passionate about making sure our surrounding communities have the resources they need to manage their health and making a lasting impact. I believe this experience will invaluable in my journey to becoming a physician. In my free time, I love to sing and watch black-and-white movies! There's that old-time feel to them that I just love :)
